Hi… yep, the cast was full of a variety of folks that were a bit, well, diverse, & yep, it looked like they were indeed lip synching,…. But I’m among the folks that really liked this… any chance to hear this beautiful song is super by me. And they did do a pretty good job on it, IMHO! Also thanks to the folks that provided the explanation of the tv program. Sounds kind of fun!

  2. Nathan says:

    That’s awesome!

  3. Eoin says:

I love the descriptions: Philip Michael Thomas – Tubbs in Miami Vice; Steve Guttenberg – Mahoney in Police Academy; Katherine Walsh – Olympic champion in skating; Tonya Harding – ice skater in trouble….

  4. Karen says:

That was WAYYY to long and Wayyy to awkward.. Very random people

  5. Anthony says:

And of course Sony BMG gets it pulled… surprise! As if their DRM RootKits were not enough back in 2005.

  6. Hilde Myklatun says:

It’s from a Norwegian television show called Gylne Tider. The three men in read shirts travel around the world to speak with the stars they looked up to in their childhood. It’s very casual and not very serious. The main point is to get the celebrities to talk and just have a great time :)

  7. Gardenwife says:

Boo. .I didn’t get to see it before it was yanked for copyright violation!

  8. RaRa says:

All I see is a white box. Something must be wrong with my browser.

  9. Kris says:

Wow that was weird! I was taken back to my childhood on some of those but I don’t think they should have every been compiled into one video. And if you were going to don’t you think you would have picked a little more era appropriate song?

  10. Momof3Girls says:

    There are no words.

  11. Bob says:

I keep watching the hypmotist at the beginning and now I have the sudden urge to sing in a sing-a-long video

  12. Noodles says:

Dolph Lundgren, Paul McKenna, Carlton, The Hulk, Boyzone, Coumbo, Freddy Kruger and Right Said Fred? I knew I shouldn’t have eaten cheese before gong to sleep…
Flippin’ hilarious! I spluttered tea laughing – I love this! Thank you AFP!

  13. Teetsee says:

    Freddie Krueger? Seriously?

  14. Jeff says:

    The CGI shadows are terrible.

  15. Jillian says:

Ricky Lake lip-syncing to Prince was pretty spectacular. I think they spent all of the money on the celebrities and had about $5 left over for the green screen technology.

  16. Ducky says:

AWWW!!! They removed it! Were too many people laughing at it… er… misunderstanding the artistc content?

  17. All About Dave says:

I didnt know that Peter Falk was even still alive!

  18. stephanie says:

Am I the only one who can’t view this? It’s says it’s a private video and that I need to accept the person’s friend request.

  19. RobinL says:

That was the single most awkward assortment of celebrities I’ve ever seen, yet I couldn’t stop it till the end!

  20. Anne says:

I was frightened when I saw Freddy Krueger, yet he is not as frightening as Tonya Harding.

  21. Pam Miller says:

I’m with the camp that really loves this video! I don’t see it as funny or awkward at all. I think it’s sweet and touching!

  22. mary says:

I think the country of Norway owes us a very big apology.

  23. mitey says:

well we know milli vanilli weren’t singing

  24. Karn Mulva says:

    Appropriate…Fab was lip syncing….

  25. MaryM says:

    What the hell was that???

  26. Riley-Jo says:

This is a commercial for a Norwegian tv program where the three men in red sweatshirts feat. in the video travel around the world to meet up with celebrities, mainly from the 80′s. The title “Gylne Tider” means “The Golden Times”, and they are reminiscing about their childhood, and what it was like growing up “with” these celebrities.
It’s a very good show, and the song is by no means meant to be serious, it’s not meant as a record to be released… on the other hand, it IS supposed to be cheesy, as it’s just a silly commercial. I like it, but then again, I like the show.

  27. IMDB says:

The video was released to promote the Oct. 31 premiere of the fourth season of the show in which celebrities are interviewed about their past work.

Since the network airs many U.S. shows in syndication such as “Seinfeld” and the like, many of the stars featured are from these past shows. Jason Alexander, Malcolm Jamal Warner and Rick Schroder show up…

  28. Suz says:

How was that awkward? Pointless, perhaps, but I enjoyed it! lol

    • Mary Pat says:

so awkward for ‘them’ would you want to watch yourself in this video?

    • Steph says:

Of all the postings on this site, I thought for sure this would be the one that FINALLY did not have some idiot saying it wasn’t awkward. I should have known better….

  29. Ok, that was one of THE most awkward celebrity sing-a-longs I have ever seen. (Wait, are any of them NOT awkward?!!)

Steve Guttenburg…Lou Ferrigno…Tonya Harding? Could they have found a more odd group of people to throw together?!?

  30. Lillie says:

man. tanya harding looks a little worse for wear. what was she wearing? also why did this go on for so long? it was really uncomfortable to watch, but i kept waiting for someone better to show up. and by better i mean worse.

  31. Alan says:

This would have been a lot better if they’d just let Huey Lewis sing it for real and make all those has-beens lip-sync to his voice.

    • armchair hero says:

Why in the world didn’t they let Huey belt it out? I did not understand why they didn’t let the singers actually sing. And why did these people agree to do this? Did they understand ahead of time that this would be the most ridiculous moment of their lives (and that’s saying a lot for Tonya Harding)?

  32. Ellie says:

Watched it three times, still love it – i only cringe at the air guitar part and Alberto Tomba

  33. Billswife says:

Another overrated Beatles song with overrated actors/musicians. Very weird & awkward.

  34. Patricia says:

That was like road-kill. I tried to stop looking, but couldn’t.

  35. Daybreak says:

This was a promo for a Norwegian talk show called “Gylne Tider”. It looks like they were just lip synching separately in front of a green screen and someone just slapped it together.

  36. Petal says:

I really just don’t understand. How on earth did this come to fruition?

  37. Rachel says:

I love how they had the now adult actor that played the young Forrest Gump.

  38. Megan says:

I don’t get it. What the H are they doing?

  39. darth facetious says:

i’m glad steve guttenberg can still find work

  40. Diana says:

You think Tanya Harding could have dressed up just a bit for this?? LMAO! Check out her shirt!

  41. Shaunna says:

Ummm this was so awkward that I could only watch about 10 seconds of it!!!

  42. Beth says:

What’s with the A-listers being all mixed in with the C-listers? Maybe they weren’t told what the final product was going to be.
Totally weird, but I couldn’t turn it off.

  43. Hannah says:

it WOULD be filmed at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk!

  44. Maren says:

What in the world??? That’s the weirdest thing I ever saw. Or, awkwardest. Thanks for sharing.

  45. barbsi says:

How did Tonya Harding get in there?

    • Evelyn says:

I’m with you…how did she get in there? And the guy from Milli Vanilli? What’s up with that??

    • Mary Pat says:

I know WTH? shouldn’t she be in jail? for I sec I was thinking Katarina was her victim and they were in the same clip….I know, I know it was Nancy K….but still huh?!

  46. Jennifer* says:

If Awkward got the stomach flu, this is what it would spew forth.

  47. Lisa says:

I guess I must be a little twisted because I absolutely loved this!!

    • Akhuna says:

Me too, especially seeing how some actors look today – like Bud Spencer, Theo from Cosby show or Bud Bundy :) Plus, I absolutely love “Let it be” by the Beatles.

  48. Spoo says:

Awesomely awkward. Especially how Kathleen Turner refuses to sing or even fake it. Hee hee!

  49. Beth says:

    Okay, that was just horrible.

My favorites were the ones who didn’t sing at all–they just had their faces in the camera.
