Meeting The Bunnies

“When I was about 11 years old, my family visited the Playboy Casino in Atlantic City. Everyone got their pictures taken with the Playboy bunnies, including me. What I find hilarious is my ‘Sun Your Buns’ t-shirt from Florida.”

An American Privilege

“This is a school assignment I completed when I was six years old. I blame my artistic choices on my five older brothers, and I was under the impression that ‘voting’ meant cheering your leaders in battle. The best part is that this was published in the school year book.”

One Big Happy

“This is a photo of me, my cat and my best friends from high school. Looking back on it now I think it makes us look like we’re all married to each other. Epic!”

Open Your Eyes, Kid

“First year participating in t-ball and this was his photo…When we asked our son what he was doing with his eyes he said,  ‘the photographer told me to open my eyes more.’ I guess you can say he followed directions well.”

Three Cats And A Bunny

“Listen, there’s nothing easy about holding three cats and a bunny all the same time. That little bunny, whose name is Arthur, is a big trouble-maker. He likes to bite on those cats when he gets a chance to. But those cats love him anyway. The cats involved are Madjka, Chachka and Pagliacci. I should explain, Christmas was coming and I wanted a picture with my my fur babies. (I work at a photography studio.)”

“But those fur babies were not on their best behavior. I seem to recall that Arthur, that little devil, nibbled at Pagliacci first and then all hell broke loose. Cat and bunny hair flying all around that photo studio. Now, remember this is where I worked. The cats went to running, the bunny went to hopping, and I was just beside myself. Thank goodness it was a Sunday and we were closed. Our display pictures were flying everywhere.”

Maroon 5

“My mother must have ransacked the Sears catalog to purchase these Sears Tuffskins maroon denim outfits (with white top-stitching) for all five of us kids. She got matching outfits for herself and Dad, who aren’t in the photo. Then we all went to Six Flags Over Georgia, where we were mistaken for – on multiple occasions – either a gospel group or a a country music band. As the eldest child (12) and only girl…I was completely mortified and spent most of the day dragging 20 feet behind my family. Flash forward 44 years and it is now my brothers’ and my most ‘precious’ (and totally hilarious) memory! Embrace the awkward!”

Kindergarten Love

“This is the first school photo of my life, taken when I was five years old. Two of my classmates were kindergarteners in love and this photo makes it obvious.”

Team Tums

“This is my Mom and her two sisters when they were all flight attendants, apparently doing some pro bono advertising for Tums––and possibly a food review for the in-flight meal at the same time.”

The Spirit Of ’93

“My sister hired a photographer to take our family picture all dressed up in our red, white and blue in 1993.  Our Dad, pictured in the white shoes, was very patriotic and my sisters and I are as well.  It all made sense at the time but now we can laugh and call this picture one of our most awkward family photos!  Thank you to my sister  for always thinking up such wonderful memories for our family!!”

The Patriot

“This is my family’s one and only professionally taken portrait. I remember being so angry my mom made me wear the uniform from my Fife and Drum Marching Band (for which I also had no love). The photo sessions were taken at my grammar school so the entire school was able to partake in my misery. I am smiling though. Somehow.”
