Behind The Awkwardness

Nice Shirt, Grandpa

“My Dad came to visit me after the birth of my 1st child. I took this picture as he held her. After I got the photos back, I realized the slaughter behind her as she slept! Kentucky Fried nightmare.”

Cult of Personalities

“This photo says it all. My oldest brother was and still is the quiet one. My middle brother was always getting in trouble and speaking his mind, and I am still the little sister who sees the good in every situation and always with a smile.”

Matchy Matchy Matchy

“My mom and me, winter of 1981. The matching PJ’s were on purpose. My grandfather made them for us. The fact that the clothing also matched that chair (in my other grandparents’ house)? That part was apparently a coincidence.”

My Sister Is A Centaur

“My sister and I had this photo taken as a gift for our parents in 1995. Little did we know it would turn out to be an optical illusion. I’m the one in the black sweater and blue jeans, but if you look at it just right, it appears that my sister is crunched up in a ball in the front, and I’m the black-clad mythical creature in the back.”

Hot Diggety Dog

“We were at a family hot dog roast and my aunt captured this unknowingly of my family and my grandmother. My aunt gave the picture to us as a Christmas gift. I noticed it as soon as I opened it but refrained from busting out laughing, and thanked my aunt graciously.  My wife said in the vehicle after we left that it was a nice picture, I said take a look again and that’s when it hit her. It is now forever displayed in our kitchen!”

The Roach Clip

“I found this picture recently when I was cleaning out some old photo boxes. I think I was in 3rd or 4th grade, which would make it the early 1980s. My parents, obviously having no idea what roach clips were used for, not only let me buy it, but let me go to school with it pinned to my collar on picture day.”

The Summer Of ’69

“I was 9, my sister, 3. I had more hair than anyone knew what to do with. I decided that I wanted to look like a ‘movie star’ in our photo shoot, so my mom’s hairdresser gave it her best shot… mission accomplished??? My poor little sister was obviously terrified of that monstrosity on top of my head… but don’t worry, she turned out fine. She became a school counselor! Still my favorite sister pic of all time… how I miss 1969!”

Taking The Plunge

“My brother is wearing my headband and we’re both eating Ring Pops. It looks like we’re dressed up for the Christmas Eve service. And Dad….? Dad passed away last Christmas, but his plunger will live on forever.”

Sibling Bond

“When my sister and I were younger, my parents couldn’t get us to stop fighting. Mom had the idea of duct taping our wrists together since handcuffs were to inhumane for children. We went to the mall and sister had to go to the bathroom. I had to go into the bathroom while with my hand sticking out of the stall while my sister did a number two. Since then, no fights!”

The Special Request

“A few years ago me and my parents went to France. My parents asked me to find a nice hotel. When I found the hotel, under the section where it asks if we have any “special requests” I thought I would make it a bit more entertaining. I told them that we would like pictures of Ostriches framed all over the room us to find and for them to leave bird food to feed the pictures of the Ostriches in case they get hungry. When we walked into our room, I broke down laughing my ass off.”
