The 60’s

Queen Bee

“My husband found this absolutely incredible picture of his grandmother’s brother and sister-in-law. And her hair.”

The Original Tan Mom

“My mother was so tan, she looked like a member of a different family. On another note, our dog ‘Snowball’ seemed pleased.”

Baby In Back

“No seat belts, four kids and the baby just tossed In the back of our 60s Rambler station wagon. Because that’s how we rolled back then.”

Playing Possum

“That’s my grandfather (Pappy) kneeling, my sister in his lap, and my cousin standing. I believe it was my uncle’s possum – he was known for taking in and rehabbing animals in a spare bathroom. This was taken in 1969 in Grand Junction, Tennessee.”

Sunday Best

“Christmas of ‘69. Mom got a heckuva deal on fabric and yes indeed, we went to church like that.”

Flower Power

“I thought it would be fun for me to make matching outfits for my mom and my daughter and I. It was the 60s and these very large flower prints were very popular. I was so proud of my sewing abilities and my fake hair!”

O Christmas Chair

“My mom’s family, 1963. My mom and aunt are the little girls in front row. We’re all very confused as to why the chair is the focal point of the picture. Apparently my mom’s grandmother, who took the photo, always took pictures where the people were not centered or heads were cut off. Otherwise it’s just a typical 1960s Christmas picture!”
