The 70’s
Wigging Out
“This is my sister’s school photo in 1971. My Mom insisted that she wear and wig and as you can imagine, she wasn’t very happy about it. It was of course great to see your older sister get some pay back for all the torture she had caused me during that period.”

Timer Troubles
“This family portrait was taken in 1970. My Dad had a new slide camera with a timer. I’m the one in the ‘fashionable’ white polyester pantsuit. I have no idea what my mother was doing, but obviously, no one was ready for the shot.”

The Fix Of ’76
“We had a professional photographer come to our house to take a family photo. When we got the photos back, all of them had something wrong– someone’s eyes were closed, weird smile, whatever–except for the last photo, which we thought was perfect and sent out on our Christmas cards. Then…we saw it. I (the youngest) evidently was having underwear creepage that needed to be fixed right then. At that very moment. And to this day, no one will ever let me forget The Great Underwear Fix of 1976.”

Blue Ribbon Baby
“I was a newborn when my Mother and Father took me to the photo studio at the department store to have my first ‘professional’ photos taken for family. My Dad thought it would be funny to put me holding a beer. The real question is why did he have a Pabst Blue Ribbon at the department store?”

Stormtrooper-ish
“This is me in 1978. Not at all happy about the homemade Stormtrooper costume my Mom made me.”

Coke Classic
“This is a photo of me and my brother in 1978. It was taken by our father the year before my parents’ divorce. My Mom hates it and even though i do not support the use of drugs I think this photo is special and definitely something you could only get away with in the 70’s.”

The Visitors
“I have been going through my Pop’s old photos when I stumbled upon this gem. This is a picture of my two older sisters. They looked creeped out. I asked Pop ‘Who is that creepy dude in the boxers and ginormous dog?’ he says ‘Beat’s the hell outta me, but there is your Mom in the background, completely oblivious to what it takes to be a mother, the crazy old bat!'”
