“My mother must have ransacked the Sears catalog to purchase these Sears Tuffskins maroon denim outfits (with white top-stitching) for all five of us kids. She got matching outfits for herself and Dad, who aren’t in the photo. Then we all went to Six Flags Over Georgia, where we were mistaken for – on multiple occasions – either a gospel group or a a country music band. As the eldest child (12) and only girl…I was completely mortified and spent most of the day dragging 20 feet behind my family. Flash forward 44 years and it is now my brothers’ and my most ‘precious’ (and totally hilarious) memory! Embrace the awkward!”

“This is my family’s one and only professionally taken portrait. I remember being so angry my mom made me wear the uniform from my Fife and Drum Marching Band (for which I also had no love).
