Irresistible

“When you are 6 years old and have been preparing all morning to pose with your hand on your hip for school pictures, because that is the cutest pose after all, and then are told to put your hand on your chin, suddenly pictures don’t seem as fun.”

Goth Beach

“This is 14-year-old me, taken on Mother’s Day 2007. This was my everyday attire for the next 2 years. During my junior year in high school, I was fed up with it and did a complete 180. Cut my hair, shaved, and showed up one day wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Only a few people recognized me at first glance.”

Mr. Contacts

“This is my dad dressed up as a box of contact lenses. Apparently my mom made this costume for a trade show and needed someone to model it. I don’t understand why contact lenses would wear elf shoes, but I think it works.”

Six Feet Under

“This is a picture of my dad. No, he isn’t really dead and no, he didn’t make his own coffin. My sister got married on Halloween, he built this for her to put the cold drinks in. It has since been finished in black and my sister now uses it as a coffee table.”

Mr. Literal

“I had been bugging my son about getting his quote done for the yearbook before the deadline. He seemed to be ignoring me so I gave him some advice about what not to do. Apparently he listened this time!”

Fantana Dad

“On the right is my dad in the early 70’s. On the left is Brian Fantana from Anchorman.  Coincidence?  I think not.”

Them’s The Breaks

“My son’s first grade school picture. He’s 18 now. I love how instead of saying ‘I love Wayne,’ it says I love Payne!”

Disrupting A Graduation Is Tiring

“We were at my son’s closing ceremony for the first year of preschool. My son, my wife, and I lined up at the front of the church to get our picture. My daughter had been running and dancing throughout the ceremony, and by this point we realized corralling her was a lost cause. We didn’t realize she did this when the picture was taken, and it’s now a classic.”

The Hidden Arm Trick

“This our Christmas Card photo from 1976, of my older sister, my brother and myself. My brother had his arms around us, making it look like he has no arms. We laugh about it every year.”
