What The Fork?
“I was in a Beauty and the Beast musical theatre dance number in 2002 when I was 13 years old and 6 ft tall. Why did they make the 6ft tall girl be the fork? I couldn’t even get through a doorway.”

All Aboard
“This was the first and and only year my sister and I were in dance classes. Please note: In the real world, I’ve never been on Amtrak with a conductor that wore this outfit. Sadly.”

Ready To Rumba
“I’m finally at peace with this, 25+ years after my mother took me to a Sears portrait studio to memorialize my dance recital costume.”

Break Something
“This is a picture of my breakdancing club. It’s origins are from Bellerose Queens, NY. It’s the late 1980s when breakdancing was a thing. If this doesn’t qualify as awkward IDK what does.”

All That Jazz
“Had to share this god awful photo of my sister and me. The year was 1993 and apparently jazz dance lessons were the choice of torture for young girls.”

Piggyback
“My Mom wanted my sister and I to pose together for dance recital photos. She wanted something unusual and suggested this. The photographer thought it was a swell idea.”

Dropping The Baton
“I had been excited all day long for my baton recital. My mom had gotten my hair and makeup done and I could not wait to get on stage. However, I did not know there would be pictures involved. When I was presented to the photographer, I was more than pissed. The face you are seeing in this picture is basically me saying ,’Screw you, Mom and Dad.’ And the hell of it all is…the photographer PICKED THIS PICTURE TO PRINT. My parents BOUGHT IT. My parents GAVE COPIES TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS. It will live in infamy on numerous refrigerators, in many photo albums, and now, in all its glory all over the web.”
