Scout’s Honor

“Our poor Mom was simply trying to get a picture of her two Boy Scouts and I had to stick my big head into the picture at the last second. Ridiculous. The background is kind of ridiculous too now that I’m looking at it as a grown-up. The whole picture makes me say ‘WTF?'”

Angels In The Food Court

“It was family day at the mall and my brother and I were blindsided by this awful scheme. My mother stopped right in front of one of those kiosks where you dress up your kids in mortifying costumes and take pictures of them and of course my Mom was all for it. Our faces are not the happiest, but the best part is my Shih-Tzu hair.  Thanks Mom.”

Chains Of Love

“This is a photo of my parents at a neighbor’s house in 1984 (before I was born). The chainsaw was the neighbor’s Christmas present. My dad was holding it and I guess one of the neighbors thought it would be a good idea to take a picture. I think it’s funny because my mom is leaning in and smiling, but my dad looks kind of like a potential serial killer.”

The Cock Bomb

“This is me on my 5th birthday, at my party, wearing a dress that says ‘sweet’. Behind me, my uncle is holding aloft a cock fighting picture.”

Hanging Out With Dad

“My family and I in Yosemite. I was four years old and my Mom left my Dad and brother in charge of babysitting while she went off hiking. They seemed awfully proud of their handiwork when she got back. The odd thing was that my mom agreed to take the picture while I hung there.”
