My Wife’s Secret

“I was putting away laundry. I can’t believe what I found at the bottom of my wife’s underwear drawer.”

Where Do I Put My Arms?

“I’m the one next to my Dad, holding my arms in like I’m surrounded by lepers. In the years since, I’ve taken more natural photos with my family, but this one can still be seen today on top of my Mom’s TV.”

The Dark Knight

“Right before my sister’s wedding, Batman appeared out of nowhere and told us we must have a picture with him. After this, he walked away and wasn’t seen the rest of the day. We still have no clue who this masked man is.”

Strike A Pose

“This is a photo from the early 1930’s of my great-grandfather spanking his daughter (my grandmother). Meanwhile, her brothers are posing in a variety of fashionable ways.”

Snow Betrayal

“My older brother and I wanted to make sure our baby bro got the most out of his first snowstorm.”

Winterized

“This is me in the picture at the age of 12 or 13. It was common in our family to take pictures in the snow, wearing only bathing suits. I guess we liked to show off how tough we are. It’s always funny to see people’s reactions when they see this picture between other sweet pictures of my childhood.”

The Wilting Flower Girls

“The bride was having a perfect day. The sentiment was not shared by her three flower girls.”

Terrible Twos

“Some family members decided it’d be great to get a bunch of kids together for a group portrait for the grandparents. The entire idea ticked off my barely two-year-old to no end, and for whatever idiotic reason we thought we could cheer her up by taking some portraits of just her with an oversized “two”–she’s always been a little model for the camera. She actually started with a smile but as soon as the photographer went to snap the picture she just a meltdown. The photographer immediately went to erase the digital image but I yelled “NO, I WANT THAT ONE!” The result was what I’ve always coined “pretty much the ultimate portrayal of a two year old.” You have to love the gleam of the tear coming down the face.

My daughter is 9 years old now and I still have an 8×10 of it displayed in the house. She thinks it’s the greatest picture in the world.”

Teed Off

“My daughter wouldn’t put her cell phone away on the golf course. Finally the golf club got the better of me and this photo was the result.”

Wedding Crasher

“After our wedding ceremony our photographer and wedding party went around to take pictures and while we were at this park along the river. She thought it’d be neat for my new husband to dip me backwards and kiss me while holding my leg up. Well, my nerves must not have been settled since our recent exchange of vows because I accidentally leaned back after giving him my leg, but before he was ready to hold me. I actually forgot all about this even happening until I saw our photographers photos. There’s actually a 3 picture series of me falling, but this one is my favorite because of everyone’s faces. I also love how my hand is desperately seeking help, and the fact that my husband is smiling about it.”
