First Family

“When my parents were getting their portraits taken, the photographer had an idea. My Mom wore a tube top and my Dad took his shirt off. The photographer even entered this in a photography contest and won. He gave them a copy of the photo for posing for him, but what he truly gave us is an amazing captured moment that made me wonder if this is what married life is like. I saw this picture every day hanging up in their bedroom.”

Final Destination

“This is a photo of my family on vacation around 1981 or so. I’m the boy in the red shirt along with my brother and sister and our cousin.”

The Great Mustache Caper

“I asked my dad why he grew it like that he just said that he saw a Led Zeppelin album with old soldiers on it and one of the soldiers had a mustache like that so he just copied them. Needless to say, my mom hated the mustache.”

The Leg Sweepers

“My father insisted that all of us must begin lessons in karate after The Karate Kid came out in the 1980’s.  His pride in our accomplishments led to a family photo.”

Denim Days

“Every year my mother wanted a nice family photo and this time around she chose our outfits. Matching jean dresses for my sister and I, jean dress for her (with that awesome big hair that she permed) and a jean shirt for my dad. (Plus I don’t know where we are all looking…but it wasn’t at the camera.) This is in honor of my mother who passed in 2015 from Melanoma.”

The Freebie

“My buddy Josh and his older sister and brother when they were little. Apparently when the photographer saw all the prints from the photo shoot, he gave this one to his mom for free because it’s just so hilarious. He would hide it from me when I went to his house because I would cry from laughing at it so much.”

Code Pink

“In 1990, I was in the Marine Corps and our family only had a few days together. We wanted to “remember” this date. Mission accomplished! As we walked across the parking lot towards the portrait studio, people laughed, right out loud! Now THERE was a clue!”
