Little House On The Prairie

“Growing up our house was in the country next to an old farm. The original “pump house” or well was in our back yard. My parents thought it would be great to dress in colonial attire and pose in front of the “pump house”. Since it was 1976 my mom had sewn costumes for the bicentennial parade that were riding in and there you go…….the “colonial family” picture. I didn’t know that they had schnauzers and cocker spaniels during that time.”

“When I was 17 my parents thought it would be a good idea to take us all to pose for one of those glamour shots. This photo would of been a lot more awkward had I been allowed to wear my own make-up though maybe the glamour make-up and heavy air brushing adds to the uncomfortable.”

“Just an old family photo that many of us and our friends can’t stop looking at… we were visiting our grandparents in Mass, coming from PA.  So of course we had to take a family photo and of course my older brother was wearing a “Thriller” half shirt.  I keep asking myself, did they really sell those?  I am the one on the right… with a sweatshirt/short combo that almost looks like a one piece outfit. ”

“Since it was one of our first “Major” holidays as a family, my mother decided it was a brilliant idea to take as many family photos as possible. Naturally, we all had to match. Sure, we have the good ones where my step dad here is actually wearing a shirt… but he doesn’t have a fur vest like the rest of us. Someone had the idea for him to wear *his* fur vest, and thus this picture was born, which includes me laughing with tears in my eyes. Believe it or not there is a huge portrait of this on a wrapped canvas above my mother’s bed to this day.”
