Family Portrait

Stardate 1990

“This is a family photo from the 90s. We had coordinated Halloween costumes and my parents decided to get a professional photo taken of it for some reason. I’m in the yellow costume which I hated because I wanted blue or red. And yes, we watched a lot of Star Trek.”

Nature Called

“My husband and I wanted to take a Christmas family photo with our dog Rylee, but he kept wandering off. When we got home our photographer called us and said, ‘I found where Rylee was.”

I Fold

“This was taken after church one Saturday. My parents look like they don’t want to be there. My Uncle looks like he’s surprised to be there, (which might explain why he’s holding a folder), and me and my brother are just there.”

Take Twenty

“After twenty attempts trying to get everyone to smile, and my sister being afraid of camera flashes, my frustrated father yelled out “Just take the damn picture!”

Farm Team

“Mom and dad always wanted a farm but they went corporate instead so we were forced into these outfits for Halloween until we were 10.”

The Original Tan Mom

“My mother was so tan, she looked like a member of a different family. On another note, our dog ‘Snowball’ seemed pleased.”

Suspended

“This is a picture of me (the little girl), my brother, and my parents. Yes, my brother is wearing acid washed jeans held up by red suspenders. Yes, my father is rockin’ the pencil ‘stache. Yes, I have the ‘I need an adult’ face. I’m not sure what concerns me more – what my parents are doing to my brother or my brother’s enjoyment of it.”

East German Style

“With relatives in West Germany (before the reunification in 1989), we were in the lucky position to get some Levi’s jeans or hot fake snakeskin pants.”
