Family Portrait

Grabbing My Attention

“I’m a photographer at a Sears Portrait Studio and I conned my mother and her new husband to come get some photos  made with me. I was having difficulty smiling without making the squinty-eye face.  I guess my mom was getting tired of waiting on me to finally get my act together, so she reached up and grabbed my boob to make me laugh.  This was the result. I couldn’t make that face again if I tried. Not surprisingly, this is my mother’s biggest and most natural smile in the whole 2 hour session! Mom’s poor new husband doesn’t even know what he got himself into…”

Going Rogue

“We tried taking a nice family picture now that my daughter is one. She looks like she’s going to slit someone’s throat.”

An Uplifting Moment

“This is a photo of my family and me from a few years back. I’m the oldest and in the middle, youngest on the left, middle child on the right. We didn’t plan this, but it turned out to be pretty awkward.”

My Mom’s Nudist Ex-Husband

“Doesn’t everyone take cheery family shots with your mom’s nudist ex-husband?”

Two Sets Of Twins

“As the father of two sets of twins, I think this is the first in a long line of Awkward Family Photos.”

Fumble

“This is a photo of my daughter and my two nephews. My oldest nephew was not happy about being separated from his mom to take the picture. We gave him a football to keep him calm, but apparently he wasn’t having it.”

Dog Lover

“This was a family photo we took this past Christmas. My brother is the only member of our family who isn’t in the relationship, but not wanting to be the odd man out he called upon his dog, Dutch, to fill in.”

Trading Places

“My husband couldn’t make it to the family portrait photo shoot. Rather than cancel, I brought a “replacement”. This is what went in all our Christmas cards. My husband’s family was not amused and he wouldn’t talk to me for days.”

The Feeling Isn’t Mutual

“This was supposed to be a family photo. Parenting level: Expert.”

Eyes Up Here

“My sisters and I thought it would be a nice Christmas present for our parents if we had a professional portrait taken of all our families. But the children were too young, and there were too many of them to get them all to look at the camera (much less smile) at the same time. The adults turned out good though.”
