Thumb Wrestling

“What a proud moment for mom. Little did she know that there was no thumb sucking allowed in this picture!”

The Cup

“1975. Little league. In the middle of a game, the league photographer showed up to snap our team photograph. That inning, I had been playing catcher and was wearing all of the catcher’s gear– chest protector, face mask, helmet, shin guards and of course, the team cup which I wore over the uniform. I forgot to remove something before the photograph was snapped and to this day, I believe the photographer got a helluva good laugh out of it.”

The Pacifist

“I don’t really know what happened. First the pacifier was in my child’s mouth but then the photographer slipped one into my mouth too so I looked at my wife for help and she mouthed the words ‘Play Along’ so I tried to look as classy as I could with a pacifier in my mouth.”

Christmas Chicken

“My parents took my brother and I to a Christmas Party in a fancy hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. Instead of having a Santa Clause, they had a Christmas Chicken instead. We don’t seem too pleased.”

Dry Christmas

“This was my family’s Christmas card for 1995. My mom came up with the crazy idea to have us all wear different towels in the picture. It still makes me laugh every time I see it.”

The Toss Up

“This was taken at the precise moment I threw the Bride’s Bouquet to the bachelorette who would be next in line to be married. Clearly, both of my friends wanted the honors.”

The Fender Bender

“Lombard Street, San Francisco, CA, 1997. While touring the Crooked Street on foot we were witnesses to this fender bender that caused a traffic jam and uproar of tourists waiting for their chance to drive down the street. Our folks felt this was a perfect moment for a happy family portrait.”

The DIY Outdoor Mancave

“It was the summer of 1996 and my Dad and his neighbor had found a rather special way to follow the football on TV while enjoying the warm weather in their garden.”

The Missing S

“This photo was taken right after we had finished hair and makeup for my sister (the bride) and the bridesmaids (myself and my sisters and the bride’s best friend). Her wedding took place in an old fire station in Springfield, MO, and there was a bunch of cool antique paintings on the brick wall inside. This particular wall actually says “SHOES,” but when the photos came out and we posted them online, we finally realized what a grave mistake we had made. Whoops.”

Bottle Service

“This is a photo of my brother’s family.  We were trying to get a nice Christmas card photo, and my brother was getting rid of his beer so it wouldn’t be in the picture. He wasn’t fast enough.”
