The Irritated Four
“It was the hottest day of the year, and car ride to Olan Mills was without air conditioning and Mom, Grandma, my cousins and myself were all crammed in the car together. On the way Mom got pulled over for having a broken tail light. Needless to say by the time we got there everyone was already over it. Those dresses were hot and itchy, and even time our photographer was ready to shoot, someone started crying or had to go to the bathroom. I’m the one on the far right with the face. I still make that face to this day when irritated!”

The Crew
“My mom and her two sisters, circa 1990. Unclear why this picture was taken or why no one thought they could smile.”

Make Yourself Comfortable
“This is my mother, my sister and me posing for our annual Christmas picture in a Walmart in Louisiana circa 2008. Please note the matching Banana Republic sweaters that were purchased on clearance and no, those aren’t spray tans. It was just very hot in the studio.”

The Birthday Girl
“This was taken for my mom’s December birthday — notice the weird birthday cake with Christmas trees on it. She looks thrilled. One hand with a death grip on my brother (who thought he was the ultimate warrior from WWE) and the other with a cigarette to take the edge off.”

Seeing Double
“This my younger brother and I, taken around 1970, when the Partridge Family was a big hit. The vests were crushed velvet and our hair was plastered with Dippity-do so it would stay in place.”
